FREE rooster available:
Langshan breed.  Hatched  Sept 28, 2011 and raised by us from 3 days old.

Langshans, a rare, endangered breed from China, lays a pretty brown egg. The Croad line of Langshans once laid a dark brown egg, but this line is not available from hatcheries (and is even rare to find from breeders). The Langshan is a graceful, nicely-proportioned bird with feathered legs. They are good layers, but somewhat slow to mature to their full size and begin laying. They are also quite active for such large birds! Today they're mainly kept by those conscientious folks who want to ensure this breed's continued survival.

Eggs for sale at $ 2.00 per dozen.
We have both brown and white eggs for sale.  There is no difference in the nutrition or taste of these eggs and you will receive whatever color is available at the time.  Our eggs have 200 mg of Omega-3 in each egg (compared to the typical 65 mg). .. see below under the feed description.

Our chickens are pastured which means they free-range outdoors during the day to roam throughout our pastured areas and are kept in the chicken coop at night to stay safe from predators.

Chicken Feed:
We feed Purina® Layena® Plus Omega-3 SunFresh® Recipe as well as Purina® Scratch Grains SunFresh® Grains.  These feeds are FREE of all added animal proteins and fats for healthy, happy birds.  But it’s what you can’t see that makes Purina® Layena® Plus Omega-3 poultry feed truly unique. It’s made with flaxseed, which not only supports a healthy flock, but also provides enhanced nutrients in their eggs. While a typical egg provides a mere 65mg of Omega-3 fatty acids, an egg produced by healthy poultry fed exclusively on Purina® Layena® Plus Omega-3 poultry feed contains 200mg of Omega-3.  And like all Purina® SunFresh® Recipe poultry feeds, you can rest assured Purina® Layena® Plus Omega-3 poultry feed contains no added hormones, antibiotics, animal fat or animal by-products. Just wholesome goodness for a delicious, homegrown egg.

Our Flock:
We currently have 24 hens in our flock.  We have 6 White Leghorns; 6 Rhode Island Reds; 6 Black Star; and 6 Red Star.  The white leghorns lay white eggs and all the others lay brown eggs.

The chickens share their turnout pasture with the goats and many times wander into the goats' stall to investigate
any goodies left on the floor.

The chicken coop. . . . our flock has a 12 x 12 chicken coop fully enclosed to protect them at night
from any predators.  This is converted from a horse stall in our barn.  Their coop is attached to their large
outdoor pasture which they can  roam during the day (free range).
