Indiana Trail Riders Assocation www.Intrailriders.org
The purpose of the Indiana Trail Riders Association is to promote trail riding and equine activities in Indiana and the surrounding area. The Indiana Trail Riders are involved on the local, state and national levels striving to promote and improve trails and campgrounds. We work actively on the legislative and administrative levels as well as sponsoring and organizing workdays on several recreational properties in the hope that the natural beauty we have enjoyed on horseback will be available for future generations as well.

Greene Sullivan State Forest Dugger, IN (812) 648-2810
8,000 acres, 20 primitive campsites, hitching rails, and stalls
The horsemen's Class C (primitive) campground is located near Ladder Lake. Horse corrals and hitching posts are available in the campground, and only campers with horses can use this area. In addition, no horses are permitted within the family campground areas. The sign to the entrance for the horsemen's campground is very small and hard to read - especially after dark. The entrance to the camp has been renovated, making it much easier and safer for trailers entering and exiting the highway. The facility is composed of reclaimed surface mines and contains more than a hundred lakes. The trails wind through the woods, not hilly ground, but nice and rolling in places. The trails often go between two lakes or over the spoil piles (mining remains). WARNING!! DO NT WATER YOUR HORSES IN THE LAKES!!! These lakes have NO BANKS but drop straight down!! Water your horse at the boat ramps to be safe.

Potato Creek is located just off of State Road 4. It offers a modern campground with a nice shower house. The hitch rails are in good shape and have sand around them. There aren't too many shaded camping spots, but the parking pads are very large and your rig must be on the pad. The water is few and far between - plan on carrying water a long distance. The park has a policy of allowing the "family campers" in the horsemen's camp as an overflow. Be prepared to have kids on bikes on he trails as well as in camp.
The trails are wooded close to camp but there is a long trail in the open around a large field. There are about 9 miles of flat trails. Two trails will be re-routed into the woods instead of open fields.
